We have tried everything. I am in a crisis right nowb/c I work at the Cleveland Clinic and have been told that my son needed different meds b/c we asked if there was anything else besides Concerta? HE has been taking this for 4 years and we have noticed an increase in Risky behavior (alcohol/Marijuanna). He is testing out his Almost Adult independence with all of the Gusto an child with ADHD can.... We just went through 2 Psychiatrists and 3 MD's who want to send him to a Substance abuse program and will not treat him until he goes.... My husband and I are Proactive and have already been Drug testing him at home for 1 month and He is very honest (ADHD honest.... He tells on himself everytime... Thank God!) Well...... I just had this conversation with my son and asked him what he thought He needed...... He said "He needs to get off the ADHD meds... They are making him more impulsive.... he feels like a zombie.... he gets sick to his stomach and can't sleep.... He is getting a 3.1 GPA in 10th grade on an IEP and he wants to continue to stay on his IEP.... W/O any meds.... and he will do fine. "He agreed to have us drug test him at home whenever we wanted to . He has tried the POT and Alcohol b/c "It makes him feel good" He is tired of feeling sick all the time..... He attributes this to Vyvanse,Daytranna,Adderall, Concerta and Ritalin.... I went to this website 1 hour after my talk with my son and this is what I found.... Everything HE was talking about is in here..... My son is liked by all and is known as a Very Hard worker. The only Relationship he has is with Us .... His parents... b/c He says and I agree..... We are NOT listening to him ... He has done everything we have said to do.... He is only doing all of the above with Doctors and Meds b/c We have asked him too.... Well I am Now going to listen to my Heart and My son and try this...... what do I have to lose..... I was already losing my son to the Medical Field/Drugs (RX and Non-RX) I love him and He says He loves us very much but when he is 18 he is OUT OF HERE!!!! I hope this is all going to help....
