My daughter is going to try the 3 Steps thing. How do I get for off the Adderall?

    • Tracy Martinazzi April 7, 2010 at 12:15 pm #

I just took my son off of Adderall, it was a month plus effort and had to be done very gradually. Even with that his behaviors were really hard to deal with, tells you something about the addictive componant. I just read there have been at least 12 deaths linked to this product, he was previously on Topamax which has a side effect of sudden death in children as well, rare they say…………

You need to do this under a Doctors direction. These are serious psychotropic drugs that cannot be stopped “cold turkey”. I would definitely peruse getting her off the meds.

Does anyone know what someone with ADD looks like? This should make you smile.

I have seen a new doctor/GP a hand full of times. The first two visits he made the comment “You don’t look like you have ADD”. This is comical. Well, the first time I laughed. Does anyone know what someone with ADD looks like or is suppposed to look like? I’ve explained how and when I was diagnosed. My last visit, the doctor introduced the intern with him, asked me how have you been, and commented to the intern “she has had a slight problem with ADD. He wrote my script and was out the door in less than 3 minutes. What is the deal? We just relocated within the last week and I will need to find a pediatrician and a family doctor. Any suggestions? I just placed an order for the liquid vitamins. I hope that my daughter or myself will not need a physician to treat our ADD once we’ve started them. Thx….MR

Just because they are the so called ”experts” the dr’s are also human. I am bold and I made them take time w/me. This is my life here. When my dr just was gonna walk out I stopped him. I pled my case and asked to be taken seriously. They listened.
Say what you mean…mean what you say, but don’t say it mean*
I went through many dr’s until I found one that meant business. Thank God!

Hi…I’m a newbie and a little overwhelmed. I read the book 3 times over. I am on week 3 of my son taking his liquid vitamins, but just started layering in the Neu b’calmed slowly. I need to know if I’m doing this right b/c school starts in 4 weeks and I read I should give this 3 weeks to truly take affect. In the morning I mix 2 scoops of Get Go-n-Plus, 2 Tbls of Aloe Plus & 2 Tbls of Biofuel and 2 capsules of Neub’calmed (I break the capsules and pour the powder in), then mix all of this in a smoothie. Am I doing this right? Secondly, on the back of the bottle of Neu b’calmed for my son’s weight (79 lbs), it recommends you take 2 capsules THREE TIMES A DAY??? I’m not that far into yet, but is that right? I read in one of the comments previously, Jon, that 2 capsules in the morning ONLY was sufficient. Am I overkilling this thing b/c I am having a tough time getting my son to adjust to this, but trying to explain to him the benefits over taking Concerta and his newly changed medicine(Focalin). Please let me know. I feel like I’m out here by myself just taking life into my own hands w/no manual.

    • Jon Bennett July 21, 2009 at 4:10 pm #

      Lynn,

Sounds like you are on the right track!

It can be a little overwhelming! :-)

Unfortunately, it is different for everyone. I would start with just 2 in the am with with morning drink.

If you see that he begins losing focus later in the day.. then add another 2 capsules.

It is very much a trial and error kind of thing :-)

Iam just beginning to find out this information. What is this all about. I hear of a book. What is it called and what is it about? Please respond. Thank you. I wrote about my son who is clearly adhd. I just found a doctor that would help, but if there are other ways to do this, I would be interested but money is very limited.

  7. EFTcharlotte October 12, 2009 at 10:41 am #

Amazing actually that not everyone knows this already since a long time… it seems like there are only few people beating the drum, unfortunately..
I feel happy that I found a fellow drumbeater!
Jon, I did now buy your book (yet), what do you do with diet? I see huge differences in kids taken off sugar and maybe even more important, food colorings. I wrote an article about the latter, maybe you can have a look and tell me what you think?

Thank You so much for all of this information. I think parents should be more educate about ADHD. Sometimes its hard to find options and answers. I encourage all parents to never give up, and to always look for other alternative before giving your kids any drugs.

  11. Laura December 8, 2009 at 11:51 am #

Thank you for sending me the detail, although my son is not hyper he really struggles with focus and paying attention and it has resulted in frustration by his teacher. The pediatrician is suggesting RITILAN and my husband are absolutely against any meds if we can help it.

Anything on helping your child FOCUS?

  12. Mom Jenn December 13, 2009 at 11:20 pm #

I just started viewing these videos. I am intrigued. I feel like there is a support group out there. My Son is definitely ADHD. He is on Vyvanse. He seems to be doing well on it so far. He has been on it for almost a year. We had been struggling to find a medication that worked, we tryed Aderrall, Strattera and one other. They either made hin lathargic or didn’t work at all. I will not allow the doctors to increase his dose and use him a guinea pig, I refuse!

we live in Frisco, Texas were there is a Lead smeltering plant. I wonder how many children and adults suffer from ADD and ADHD because of this place?

  14. Monica January 20, 2010 at 4:56 pm #

Amazing! I wish I had known this stuff sooner! I am an adult ADDer (diagnosed when I was 7)and have resigned myself doomed to taking meds (which have very unpleasant side effects) to succeed at school and work…and to think it could have been a simple, AVOIDABLE, food allergy/sensitivity! Allergies are common in my family, and I never considered that I might have a food allergy, because I have never displayed the more common reactions (i.e. hives, swelling)

  15. Monica January 20, 2010 at 5:00 pm #

Correction: HAD resigned myself. I will definitely explore these alternative solutions for my ADHD

  16. Diane January 28, 2010 at 6:06 pm #

My son is 9 and in 3rd grade. The only time he gets bad grades at school is when he has zoned out and missed the teachers instructions or it takes him so long to do an assignment he has to turn it in without completing it. Since pre-school his teachers have complained about his focus on tasks. He doesn’t fidget, get out of his seat or bother anyone. He is always getting great behavioral grades. The problem is it takes him 2-3 times longer to get his assignments done. He is a daydreamer and deep thinker and gets distracted easily. I don’t know alot about ADD. He is definitely not ADHD, no hyperactivity. I’m scared that this will start causing him bad grades as school work gets more challenging. Could this be ADD? Anyone else have a child like this?

    • carol May 17, 2010 at 10:57 am #

Hi Diane, While reading this it is as if you were describing my son. He has mild ADD, and therefore misses instructions, forgets to do something on a test, and then he misses the whole problem because he didn’t label even though he knew how to solve the problem and essentially got the answer correct. We have had a terrible school year. His teacher tells me he is the worst ADD kid she has ever seen, has suggested medication almost from the beginning of the year, and even though he suppose to be the worst he brings home A’s, B’s, and the occasional C on his report card. I have implemented a healthy diet 2 years ago avoiding artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives as well as giving him supplements, removing dairy and just recently removing gluten. If you would like to talk and support one another, you could email me as I would love to help if I can. I hope I hear from you, Carol

    • Maria May 21, 2010 at 10:55 am #

I know what you mean. I have an 8 year old daughter and is the same with her. What I did was spoke to the teachers she has an IEP and there is always a teacher with her that makes sure she does the school work. Yes some days she can’t complete the school work or test on time so they give extra time to complete them. There is also a program 504 plan this one makes the teachers have some special acomodations for your child, example he can finish his test because of his ADD well with the 504 plan they acomodate him and give more time to finish.

hi Diane my grandson is 9 3rd also. like your son he doesn’t run around the class room chesing his tail but it does take him longer to do his work and likes to think on his own. the teacher thinks he is all thoes ADD ADHD things. we are new at this too but i tell you this im not going to put him on any of thoes medications to make him a zumbi to make it easy for the teacher. im like Carol we are going to try other means. and have as many visit with his teacher as we can. and the last visit we had with her really opened my eyes to alot of things. she herself has a lot of things going on and my grandson he is really easy to shove things off on. after all he is not her friend for years grandson. its the raw truth and its going to take more than her degree to put my grandson on drugs. so do your homework lela

Marie, your son and my granddaughter has the exact problems, she was retained in 3rd grade ,but is still struggling with work. Now she is losing self esteem and not really motivatated, she feels really bad about her not being able to focus. I, like you would like to hear what we can do ? Help!

I am just getting this information. I have a 4 yr old who is very delayed and has water on the brain. We adopted him 2 years ago. He is very hyper, and aggressive. He does things that my ‘normal’ 3 yr old can’t do. I am at my wits end. I don’t know where to begin and money is very tight. What are the first steps and what do I do.

  21. tricia May 21, 2013 at 10:38 am #

Loved both videos.I am going through this now with my son who was left back in kindergarten because he could not sit still. They are trying to get him diagnosed with ADHD & i am scared to death to give him drugs.IT’s great to know there’s an alternative.

Two things that have really helped me is taking LIQUID Vitamin B-12, A Mega Multivitamin, and 5-HTP (A mood elevator for when I’m down in the dumps). You can buy it all at (*Gag Me*) Walmart.:( Or Walgreens.:) Plus, I eat a LOT MORE Fruits and Vegetables, and Salads. A LOT LESS RED MEAT (Hooray for Chicken, Turkey, & Fish), Substitute nonsweetened fruit juice, water, or milk for Soda Pop, and avoid fast food like the plague. ***Red Meat, Soda, Fast Food Burgers and Fries, ketchup, and onions give me MAJOR HEARTBURN!*** BUT, I can eat tomatoes. AH HA!! Ketchup has ONION POWDER in it. READ THE INGREDIENTS BEFORE you fead it to your kids. If you feed your kids a steady diet of Fast Food you may as well pour a bottle of DRANO down their throat. Watch the Movie “SUPERSIZE ME!”

I also have a 10 yr old forth grader, who is not hyperactive, does not cause distubance and tries really hard.
Yet has focus, attention, organizational difficulties and it will take him 4 hour to complete a writing assignment that takes his peers 1 1/2. He has been evaluated and doesn’t qualify for special ed, because he can learn…it just takes soooo much time and sooo much effort. He works really hard and I feel for him. He eats high protien breakfast and snacks but loves his pasta. Not a big sweets eater and I don’t use alot of processed foods. It seems to be the “daydreamer” and I also think he has spacial dysgraphia symptoms, making it difficult to organize thought on paper, along with very poor penmanship. Looks like a Kinder, not 4th grader.

ADD caused by lead is something new to me.

I have no idea, however, how I would have ingested lead
while I was pregnant with my son…

That ADD can be caused by lead is new to me.
I am just wondering how/when my son and I
    could have ingested lead…
