How Nutrition can Eliminate ADD ADHD Symptoms

Please enjoy this video. I feel it puts things into perspective :-)

UPDATE – I get this question often…

“How do you get your DHA?”

Answer – ” In our experience, you can get your DHA by eating fish once per week, using products that have omega-3s (now there are a lot of them on the market!), or taking a DHA/Omega 3 supplement.

Here has been the order of priority.

1 – the “micellized” liquid vitamins (covers most of your bases)

2- the ADD specific supplement Neu-Be-Calm. (this addresses some very specific ADD nutrients in addition to the liquid vitamins)

3- smart diet following the suggestions on GI foods (glycemic index)

4- DHA supplements if not getting it in the diet.

Hope this helps!

Jon

I don’t take any DHA supplements either… don’t need them if you are doing 1 & 2 above.

Fellow ADDers, I can tell you from experience. ADD drugs suck! They can totally freak you out and leave you a zombie.

When do you take the cal-mag drink? Empty stomach of not? Can a child take all the vitamins with penosilin?

    • Jon Bennett 8 at 8:12 am #

Take Cal-Mag in the PM. Empty stomach is always better. Yes, you can take the vitamins with penicillin. Think of the Vitamins as nothing more than really high-tech food. -Jon

        Hi Jon,
Thanks for the great book and information as well as these informative videos. My son is 11 and has been on Concerta for 5 years. I’m lucky in that it’s worked for him thus far with no side effects, however, future health is very important. I want to start the program you suggested in the book but want to make sure I get the right products, can we buy the supplements from you if we are not members? I love the idea of your membership but on top of the new expense of supplements I don’t think I can afford the monthly fee as well. The only benefit of the concerta is that it’s 100% covered by my insurance! :(

If you are taking the supplements… there are HUGE discounts for members. You actually save more than the price of the monthly fee + I have some killer info and videos in there :-)

I have a grandson, 7, that is having problems both at home and school. This information is very interesting. Last evening we had a discussion, grandson and his mother and me. We discussed his behavior the prior day and what we needed to do to correct the proble, (or so I thought.) Last night he was calm and nice until, we went out and had supper at a buffet in town and a few minutes after eating a casadias(sp), a tortilla with a stuffing of sorts in it, he was back into the bad behavior and an embarassment. It was like someone flipped a switch, Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde. I am just guessing now but I do believe it is a cheese and grain allergy? Thanks for the Info. It is so helpful.

Dear Mr.Bennet, Well done for a super book.It is very well informed.I have never read such an informative book and so helpful with all those websites.I could not stop reading it,infact I kept on reading till I finished it.Well done once again, thankyou so much and God bless you. Can you please help me with my son who has only symptoms of ADHD.He does not like to write for long and he is always unco-operative.At times he is also aggressive especially at school. How shall we go about it? We are attentive to what he eats and we also give him Omega3 syrup. Thankyou so much.

Fish or DHA supplements…I’ve recently read that hemp seeds contain more omega 3, 6 and 9 then any fish.
Is this true and, if yes, would this be considdered a sufficient DHA supplement?

    • Jon Bennett 7 at 7:27 am #

Interesting. I will look into this!

Jon, I have a 14 year old son who has extreme ADHD. I was always afraid of the medicine but at wits end tried it and it worked when he was @ 10. Now that he is fourteeen and on a higher dosage but keeps growing like a weed, I feel it doesnt work much. I do not want to up the dosage and have been looking into all your info. The sad thing is my biggest problem is insurance does cover the bad medecine, but not supplements. Being a single mom on such a small fixed income. Why is that??

My son takes Neu Becalm’d, chewable DHA, as well as a chewable supplement for kids. Is this enough or should I put him on the liquid as well?

    • Jon Bennett 11 at 11:50 pm #

The liquid vitamins may certainly help even more. It is not a requirement, but the reason why we recommend both the liquid vitamins and the supplement is because they have such a high success rate when used together. I hope this helps, best of luck to you!

John I have already started taking the DHA the local health food store told me about dumb question, how do you know when they are working. I’m also wondering if they will be enough to allow me to work at what I went to school for. and yes I also just bought the b12′s today.

  21. Michelle 3 at 3:13 pm #

    Jon,
Do I need to look at getting DHA from a supplement store? Does Neu- beCALM’d or liquid vitamins cover the DHA making it not necessary to buy it? If not is it a necessity along with the others?

    • Jon Bennett 11 at 11:23 pm #

I don’t take an additional DHA supplement, but many people do. I would try it without and then with and see what seems best.

So are you all saying that if I take my Omega 3 and my vitamins, I can get rid of inattentive ADD and bring those excitory neurotransmitters up. I can be the organized person living in the present moment that I was meant to be? I hate to keep buying more promises if its in my refrigerater. Also has anyone taken Didrex for ADD. Can scientists take an addictive drug and make it affective and the similar without being addictive? Is it equally addictive if it is a patch. This stuff is great for Inattentive spacy type ADD but I cant get a Dr. to give it to me. ADD sucks. Nothing happens for ADDers.

    • Jon Bennett 8 at 8:17 am #

      Space Cadet,

I totally understand your skepticism. I wish it were that simple. For many, many people this is all that it needed. You really have to do your own trial and error and apply all the principles we teach. It is certainly not a one size fits all, BUT there are fundamentals that apply to everyone. Supplementation is one of these recommendations. Why? …because our modern diet lacks the nutrition we need (our brains need). Keep your spirits up and let me know if there is anything I can help you with :-) BTW – I have not done research on didrex so I have no advice as far as didrex goes.

Great information and gives people the knowledge they need to help their children who are victims to the medical system. I have written to you before that the mental health systems are set up like a business to make money and keep people in jobs.
Please see my site for background information about me. I love working with children and adolescents and do well working with families who need to learn about behavior plans and diet.
Anyone interested can contact me directly. I support your mission one hundred percent!

Very informative video! I was really able to understand for the 1st time why Omegas 3′s are so important. I am trying to find natural alternatives for my 12yr old & I will start giving him this tomorrow.
