The Black Box Warning… Hello?

I am willing to bet your Doctor did not bring this up when he suggested that your child go on Adderall or Concerta….

If he did, he probably dismissed it saying that he has never had any problems!?

We had a very bad experience with Strattera.  My son joey became very lethargic and started acting very strange.  He could not sleep well  and his grades actually suffered.

I had the same thing happen with my daughter. She was irritable and would only sleep a few hours a night. That certainly didn’t help her ADD at all! Fortunately, my pediatrician was more understanding, but she still wanted to try more drugs!

It is scary to think that so many mental illnesses have some of the same symptoms. I would advise anyone who thinks his kid has ADD to see a mental health professional. I think too many pediatricians are quick to jump on the ADHD bandwagon because it seems like a simple “fit” and will give a parent answers.

I’m just owndering if anyone else is getting this message out to the people. Any of us who either have ADD/ADHD or have kids with ADD/ADHD should be kowledgeable about drugs, treatment, and what the docs don’t want or neglect to tell us!

We recently discovered that our fifteen year old son, taking Concerta, has high blood pressure! He is thin, athletic (rows five days a week), and his diet is reasonably healthy. We immediately took him off the medication.
